Mauritian people love to laugh.
Throughout my journey across Mauritius and Rodrigues, I constantly met people with broad smiles on their faces and laughter in their voices. Arthur, one of the best-known boulette vendors of China Town, Port Louis, was no exception.
Announcing to the assembled crowd that I was going to make him famous, he promptly stuck his tongue out, like a five-year-old, as I took his portrait. That simple act kept Arthur laughing long after I had captured his fun-loving spirit, the same spirit I discovered all over the islands.
